Tristan 2009

I would like to thank Wendy for the amazing role she played throughout my pregnancy and during the birth of my fourth son Tristan. With her guidance and support, she helped me embrace my birth and assist me through my times of crisis when I didn’t think I could go on.

She encouraged me and assisted me and partner with the birth wishes we had discussed throughout my pregnancy. With all the information and support my husband and I were able to make well informed decisions when it came to what we wanted to experience with our fourth baby.

We had never had the support of a doula before, and I only wish I had known of these beneficial services with my first child. I would highly recommend Wendy’s services she has a warm personality and a gentle touch.

My partner and I wish you all the best in your future as a doula, and know you will make a positive difference to all those pregnant ladies out there.

As a single mum I was overwhelmed with my second pregnancy I heard through a family member that Wendy was training to become a doula. I gave Wendy a call and made an appointment to meet her. After the first visit I knew the added support would help me greatly, through my pregnancy and birth journey.

She supported me during my pregnancy by giving me massages, as my lower back ached during my last few weeks of pregnancy. She gave me information about pregnancy and suggested some very useful tips on how to control some of my symptoms. She assisted me with my birth plan giving me clear information so I could make well informed choices when it came to my birth. She also attended antenatal appointments amd ultrasounds with me.

I remember while she visited me one day I was feeling really tired she dried my dishes and made me a cuppa, while I put my feet up.  Just having her to talk to, helped me get through some tough days.

When the big day arrived I started labouring at home at 2am in the morning, I rang Wendy and my mum. Wendy came over and helped me feel at ease. She set up my living room by burning some essential oils, playing some thunderstorms and relaxation music that I had chosen.  She placed her tens machine on my back which helped me get through the early phase of my labour. Wendy and my mum took turns massaging my back to help me feel relaxed. Wendy rang the hospital for me as my contractions began to become more regular and I decided that it was time to go to the hospital. She packed my bags into the car for me. As my mum drove Wendy assisted me in the back of the car with a warm heat pack.

Once we arrived at the hospital Wendy organized a wheel chair to transport me to the delivery room.
Wendy and my mum set up the room by dimming the lights and playing some relaxation music in the background.  As the contractions got stronger I remember Wendy wiping my forehead and offering me ice chips as my mouth was dry.  I opted for no drugs for this delivery and had Wendy and my mums assistance to massage me, assist me when I needed to change positions and keep me feeling calm and in control. I successfully delivered my daughter  at 5.20am weighing 7 pounds 4 ounces.

My mum and I will always be greatful for what Wendy did for me during that time in my life and I would highly recommend her to anyone in the need of support during there pregnancy and birth.
I will be contacting Wendy again if I have another baby as I believe her support was a positive contribution in the birth of my daughter.
